Biography
Lorenzo Ferrándiz brings an extraordinary depth of perspective to conducting, having transitioned from over two decades as a percussionist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam—one of the world's most prestigious ensembles. This rare journey from orchestral musician to conductor has given him an intimate understanding of ensemble dynamics and an exceptional ability to communicate with musicians.
Working alongside some of the most celebrated conductors of our time during his orchestral career, Lorenzo absorbed the nuances of interpretive mastery. His conducting style is now celebrated for its intensity and interpretative precision, forging profound connections between composers' intentions and modern audiences.
Today, Lorenzo champions contemporary music while honoring the classical tradition, bringing fresh perspectives to works both new and established. His performances across Europe and South America have earned critical acclaim and established him as a vital voice in contemporary conducting.

A tireless advocate for living composers, Lorenzo has premiered over 40 new works. He maintains close collaborative relationships with composers including Benet Casablancas, Raquel García-Tomás, Carlos de Castellarnau, José María Sánchez-Verdú, and Bernat Vivancos, shaping works from conception to premiere.
Regular appearances with major Spanish orchestras including the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC), Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Catalunya Philharmonic, and the orchestras of Córdoba and Extremadura. Repertoire spans from Beethoven to Shostakovich and beyond.
Extensive operatic experience at Gran Teatre del Liceu and Teatro Real, working alongside Josep Pons and John Adams. From Debussy's "Pelléas et Mélisande" to contemporary works by George Benjamin and Raquel García-Tomás. Regular conductor for Òh!pera contemporary opera productions.
